ROSEMARIE OHMES

Rosemarie “Rose” J. Ohmes passed away on July 22, 2025 at the age of 97.
Rose Ohmes (née Dove) was born on January 9, 1928, in Dardenne, Missouri, the daughter of Joseph and Barbara Dove. She graduated from Francis Howell High School in 1946 and later married the love of her life, Donald Ohmes, on November 10, 1951. They shared 70 wonderful years of marriage before his passing.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, Rose dedicated her life to raising their six children and creating a loving home filled with faith, creativity, and care. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Ladies Sodality in Josephville, Missouri, where she found strength in her faith and fellowship with others.
Rose was active in her community through her involvement in the St. Charles County Extension Club, the Quilts of Valor of Eastern Missouri, Personal Quilting Club, and the Missouri Hairdressers Association. A talented and passionate crafter, she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, embroidery, and lovingly made many quilts for her family. She also had a unique interest in nature, especially reptiles, and took great joy in raising Monarch butterflies.
Above all, Rose’s greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and joy. Her legacy of warmth, creativity, and devotion will live on in all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her six children, Barbara (Joe) Wortmann of Wentzville, MO, Charlotte (Cletus) Sommer of Madison, MO, Charles (Ruth) Ohmes of Troy, MO, Judy Maxson of Wentzville, MO, Nancy (Mike) McFall of Dittmer, MO, Joyce (Scott) Cathy of Wentzville, MO; 23 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Edna Wortmann; and several special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Joseph Dove, mother, Barbara Dove (née Hoff), husband, Donald F. Ohmes, brother, Henry Dove and wife Rosella, sister, Agnes Loeffler and husband Frederick, sister, Bernadine Dove, sister, Margaret McEvoy and husband Kenneth “Mac”.
Memorial donations may be made to: Masses or Quilts of Valor of Eastern Missouri.
Visitation will take place Monday, July 28, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville, MO.
Funeral was held Tuesday, July 29, 2025, 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Josephville, MO with burial following Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Josephville MO.
