Memories on Main car show celebrates 20th anniversary

TROY – With beautiful weather and a record turnout, the Memories on Main Street Car Show celebrated its 20th anniversary in grand style Saturday in downtown Troy.

The event featured so many entries, 229 of them to be exact, the parking lots at Whistle Pig and Restore Thrift Store were used as well.

Jerry Klich claimed his second Best of Show trophy with his 1956 Dodge Lancer.

After winning Best of Show in 2011 with a different car, Klich said he purchased this one and rebuilt it from “the frame up.”

Klich said he’s bought three other Lancers to rebuild as well.

“I love the body style on these cars,” he explained.

Klich is the owner of Top Stitch Interiors in Cottleville and with decades of experience restoring old cars, he has won numerous awards, including the 2002 Boyd Cottington Pick for best interior at the Nationals in Louisville, Ken.

Other “Best of” winners include Gary Cross’ 1957 Chevrolet Bel-Air for Best Chrome, Ron Feldman’s 1957 Chevrolet Nomad for Best Display and Steve Salas’ 1967 Chevolet Chevelle for Best Paint.
