4-H hosting open house, signups

LINCOLN COUNTY – More than 95,000 members strong, Missouri 4-H is an active, dynamic organization of young people who are learning, growing, and preparing to be the leaders of today and tomorrow – making a real difference in their community, country, and world.
4-H gives young people the opportunities to gain leadership, citizenship, and life skills through fun and innovative hands-on activities.
4-H members build friendships at camps, conferences, and events as well as club and project meetings. They also showcase their work at county and state fairs. Members prepare for the future while making new memories that will last a lifetime.
The program is open to boys and girls 8-18. There is a special “Clover Kids” program for kids 5-7. 4-H encourages participation by the entire family.
Youth enroll as 4-H members, while parents and other caring adults volunteer to lead projects or assist in other ways.
Lincoln County has 11 4-H clubs with close to 550 members. To join a club near you, contact Rhonda Shafer at (636) 528-4613 or plan to attend an open house Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Lincoln County Extension Office.
