Lincoln County hosting 4th annual Archaeology Day

OLD MONROE – The Missouri Archaeological Society will host the fourth annual Lincoln County Archaeology Day on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 1-4 p.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ.

This year’s featured speaker is Dr. Michael J. Fuller of St. Louis Community College who will present “New Insights on Missouri Rock Art.”

Collectors are invited to bring artifacts for display and identification by archaeologist Brend Lansdell of the Illinois Archaeological Survey. The society is also conducting a plummet survey to learn more about the distribution and uses of these artifacts in Missouri and participants are encouraged to bring plummets for study. In addition, organizers will share details on a statewide survey of Paleoindian artifacts dating back to 10,000 BC.

The family-friendly event will include a children’s craft table and archaeological publications available for purchase. For more information, contact Doug at (636) 290-0710 or email historynutt@hotmail.com.
