TBHS soccer blanks Blue Jays 4-0 on Senior Night

TROY – The Trojan varsity soccer team celebrated both senior night and a solid win against the Washington Blue Jays Tuesday.

The Trojans ended the night with a winning score of 4-0.

Defense held a tight line against the Blue Jays in the first half, shutting down any shots on varsity goalie, Lucas Vollmer, who finished the game with four saves over 60 minutes of play. Will Dunard came on in the final 20 minutes of the match and recorded a save to preserve the shutout.

Gage Ryan, midfield, gave the Trojans a lead with a first half goal. Ethan Estelle scored another before halftime, extending the lead to 2-0.

Mason Summer and Jacob Fernandes added second half goals to complete the scoring. Summer also added an assist in the win to finish with a team-high three points. Kaiden Butler also added an assist for the Trojans.

Varsity Trojans hold a record of 7-9-1.

“A lot is going on this season,” said Coach Ben Johnstone. “The boys are working hard and it’s a joy to coach them.”

The junior varsity team did not get the win on Tuesday night, losing 2-1 to the Blue Jays..

Nash Ruediger, midfield, landed a shot on goal with less than two minutes left in the second half, placing the Trojans on the scoreboard.

Junior varsity Trojans currently hold a record of 6-5-3.

“I have a good team of players this season, more importantly they are good people,” said Coach Cole Jost. “The boys have high character.”
